Vietnam visa on arrival is a procedure allowing foreigners to obtain an entry visa at one of Vietnam’s international border checkpoints for many purposes such as tourism, studying, working, investment, visiting relative … Compared to the procedure of getting a visa in one of the diplomatic missions of Vietnam, visa on arrival brings a lot of benefits; saving in both cost and time.
How to get a Vietnam visa on arrival?
Before coming to Vietnam, foreigners, who want to get a visa on arrival, should check the passport validity (must be valid for over 6 months) and have at least 02 blank pages.
Step 1: apply for an visa approval letter
- For foreigner who entering with the purpose of working, investing, visiting relatives (with a sponsor company), you can follow the instructions of the immigration department as follows: https://immigration.gov.vn.
- For foreigners who entering with tourism, business purposes … (without sponsor company), you can submit an official visa approval letter in HERE.
Step 2: get the result of the visa approval letter.
After working time:
- 2 – 3 days for tourist visa approval letter
- 3 – 5 days for all kinds of business, working, investment, relative visit ….
After the above time, the Immigration Department will issue an official visa approval letter allowing foreign visitors to enter according to the border gate, the declared time and purpose of entry.
Step 3: The procedure of getting a visa on arrival at the international checkpoint in Vietnam.
Before entering the country, foreigners need to prepare:
- Valid passport and 02 photos 4x6cm, white background.
- A scan of the visa approval letter for those who want to get a visa at the international airports OR the original letter for who entering and want to get a visa at international borderland in Vietnam.
- Complete form Na1 – Vietnamese visa application form.
After fully submitting the above requirements to the immigration officers at checkpoint, application need to pay for a visa stamping fee as below.
For visa type:
- 1 month single entry: 25 USD
- 1 month multiple entries: 50 USD
- 3 months single entry: 25 USD
- 3 months multiple entries: 50USD
- 6 months multiple entries: 95 USD
- 1 year multiple entries: 135 USD
After paying the fee, the applicant will be received a visa stickers into the passport.
Note:
- The value of the visa will be started from the date of entry until the end of the date mentioned on the visa approval letter.
- Foreigners, who want to get a visa on arrival, must come on the SAME DATE or after the time that mentioned in the visa approval letter.
- Prepare cash (preferably USD) for visa stamping fees at the border.
- Prepare round-trip ticket and hotel booking confirmation in Vietnam.
