Visa to Vietnam is always the first factor that foreigners should concern before coming to the country. Every trip abroad requires careful preparation from a few weeks or months before going. And that also a question of many foreigners about when they should apply for a Vietnamese visa. This post will share with you about Vietnamese visa details and an appropriate time to apply for a visa as well as time to get the result.
1. Vietnamese visa validity and duration of stay
There are many types of visa and each of them has their own validity, from 1 month to 3 months; 6 months and less than 1 year. Howerver, the visa duration is the time starting from the date that you cross a international border checkpoint to enter Vietnam until you leave the country.
You should not enter the country before arrival date that you submitted on the visa approval letter or visa stamped at the Vietnam Embassy unless you had obtained a valid multiple-entry visa and already used this visa to visit Vietnam.
For example, you have applied for a 3-month visa on arrival with the arrival date as April 10th, 2020, that mean you allow to enter Vietnam ON or AFTER April 10th but can not come before this time. Also, your visa will be valid from date of entry until July 10th, 2020.
2. Vietnamese visa kinds
The Vietnamese Government has issued 02 kinds of visa: single entry or multiple entries. For a single entry visa, you can enter Vietnam only once and have to apply for a new visa when you leave the country and want to come back again.
And with the multiple entry visa, it allows you to enter and exit Vietnam several times, without having apply for a new one, until it be expired.

So when should you apply for Vietnamese visa?
Many people misunderstand that the visa period begins at the time of applying for a visa, or from the time they get the approval letter. Therefore, they often apply for a Vietnamese visa just about 2-4 days before coming to Vietnam, regardless the weekend or public holiday times. This is a completely not the best way. As as has mentioned above, the visa validity starts from the date of entry into Vietnam, so you can apply Vietnamese visa any time before entry date. Futhermore, a good plan of traveling can help you choose a suitable type of visa.
Normally, travelers will apply for a Vietnamese visa after booking their flights, usually couble months before departure. However, if they change their plan to come earlier, they have to apply again for a new visa and could not get refund of the visa approval letter. Therefore, from our expericenced, you should apply for a visa around 2 weeks before coming to Vietnam.
Beside some urgent or emergency visa services that could help you get a Vietnamese visa in few day or even hour just before your flight take off, but it still costly and risky. Do not hesitage to contact us if you have futher questions relate to Vietnamese visa.
