Japanese passport holders do not need a visa to enter Vietnam for up to 14 days or a single entry eVisa valid for 30 days is also available for tourist purposes. However, if you want to stay in Vietnam for longer or enter the country with other purposes such as business, working…you have to apply for a suitable visa.
In order to enter Vietnam, your passport needs:
- Be valid for at least 6 months before coming.
- Have at least 02 blank pages left.
How to get a Vietnam visa for Japanese citizens?
There are 02 ways for Japanese passport holders to apply for a Vietnam visa.
1. Get a visa at the local Vietnam Embassy
Contact the local Vietnam embassy/consulate in Japan (if you are residing in Japan), or in nearby countries (if you are not residing in Japan currently) to get a visa stamped on your passport before coming to Vietnam.
2. Get a Vietnam visa on arrival
The easiest way to get a Vietnam visa from Japan to apply for a visa on arrival (VOA).
With VOA, you apply online via vietnamvisaletter.vn by taking 3 simple steps as below:
- Fill out the secure online application form, and make payment of the service fee
- Receive the visa approval letter via email. Normally in 2 working days (for tourist visa) or 7 working days (for business visa), attached with the Vietnamese visa application form (also known as Entry and Exit Form).
- Submit the visa letter to get a visa sticker upon arrival at the Vietnam border checkpoint.
