Vietnam gradually resumes regular international flights from 1st January 2022 to Bangkok, Phnom Penh, San Francisco, Seoul, Singapore, Taipei, Tokyo, and Vientiane. Therefore, the Vietnam Immigration Department will discontinue of “automatic stay extension” for foreign nationals from 15th January 2022.
Foreigners who entered Vietnam on visa waivers, e-visas, or tourist visas, have been getting their stay extended automatically since March 1, 2020, as they were unable to leave the country after borders were closed, have to review their visa status, or leave the country if necessary to avoid overstaying fine.
